Se un uomo ibernato nell'800 si risvegliasse con il disgelo di una delle recenti estati torride e si trovasse a girare in una delle città di oggi resterebbe allibito da tante novità: elettricità, mezzi di trasporto, aerei nel cielo, gente che comunica alla velocità della luce, da lontano e senza piccioni viaggiatori, cibi che cuociono senza fuoco.
